Some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs are set to take battle this summer for one of League Two’s best prospects – Crewe Alexandra’s Nick Powell.
The England youth international has been on red hot form for Crewe this season and has attracted major interest from the likes of Everton, Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal and Manchester United.
The midfielder only turned 18-years-old two months ago and has been a regular feature in the Railwaymen’s first team this season. In 38 appearances, he has netted 15 times and put himself amongst the top scorers in the division. This could be because of his attacking midfield role which has often seen him play just off the attacker, although he is equally as comfortable playing the holding role or even on either wing.
He has been praised repeatedly for his technical aspects including his composure, anticipation and creativity. His ability to find space is a much admired skill as well.
Gresty Road has been a hub of youth talent in recent years and has also seen Max Clayton come out of their academy. The Railwaymen are currently in the League Two play-offs and their youth could prove vital should they make the step-up to League One next season.
Powell is valued at approximately £2.5million although would have some form of clause in his transfer fee should he move and become one of England’s top stars.
The midfielder is one of the 72 football league club’s hottest properties and there is no doubt that we’ll see him attract a lot more interest as we head into the summer transfer window – especially if he becomes the reason that Crewe make the step up into League One in the coming week.
