Sporting Lisbon came from a goal behind to beat Aston Villa in their opening NextGen Series match.

Villa Park hosted the tie that would finish 3-1 to the visitors after Michael Drennan put Aston Villa ahead.

He got his head on the end of a cross to give Villa their deserved lead following previous moves from Josh Barton and Jordan Graham.

Ecklino immediately replied for Sporting Lisbon only one minute later.

Carlos Mane but Sporting ahead another seven minutes later when he finished off a smart move by the Portugese side.

Manno Riquicho put Sporting further ahead and sealed the victory on 63 minutes when he converted a penalty given for a foul on Maillmauu.

Villa travel to Holland in their next fixture to take on PSV Eindhoven whilst Sporting travel further north to face Celtic.

In yesterday’s other fixtures, Barcelona drew their opening game against Anderlecht.

Kabasele put Anderlecht ahead in the second half and it wasn’t until the 80th minute when Sananbria equalised for La Cantera.

We saw another comeback as CSKA Moscow beat Molde of Norway.

Svendsen put Molde in front after 27 minutes but were immediately pegged back when Seredein equalised two minutes later.

Litinov sealed the victory on 74 minutes for CSKA Moscow.
