England Under 21s Squad Named

Thomas Ince receives a call-up after impressing so far this season for Blackpool.

Stuart Pearce has named his 23-man squad to take on Azerbaijan and Norway in the next fortnight.

England currently sit 2 points clear at the top of their European Championship qualifying group and wins against Azerbaijan in Baku and Norway at Chesterfield would see the Young Lions reach the play-off round. The play-offs take place in October and are a single two-legged affair where the outright winner progresses to the final tournament next summer.

Thomas Ince receives a call-up after his magnificent early season displays for Blackpool. Ben Marshall of Leicester City has also been called-up from the Championship.

Stuart Pearce has named a very strong squad with new Manchester City signing Jack Rodwell being selected in midfield.

Jack Butland, who travelled to this summer’s European Championship, misses out along with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, as they both look to secure their places in the senior side.
