I am a 20-year-old Multimedia Journalism student at Bournemouth University determined to break into the field of sports journalism with a real passion for football.
I created The Youth Radar in January 2011 after identifying a niche in the football blogging market. Since then, the website has been shortlisted for a Guardian Student Media Award, featured on the Guardian and BBC Sport football pages, is part of the NewsNow network, included in the Football24 app and averages over 1,000 views per day. I still manage to edit, write for, update and design this website single-handedly alongside a full-time university degree, three part-time jobs and other journalistic commitments.
As well as this website, I am involved in a number of other projects. I am a Video Reporter at AFC Bournemouth, Chief Sports Reporter for the student newspaper, a reporter for JUMP TV, an online blogger for Four Four Two and have completed various work placements at the likes of Sky Sports, the Guardian, ITV Meridian and FHM.
My plans for this website are to heavily expand my coverage of European youth football this season. I will be creating, designing and maintaining dedicated pages for some of Europe’s top youth football leagues including France, Germany and Italy, which I hope will prove very popular.
As part as my university degree I will be undertaking a major multimedia project this academic year. I plan to focus this on youth football and publish my findings on the website. This will include self-produced video and audio content as well as high-quality comment. I look forward to sharing this with the readers and am keen to receive some feedback.
