Stuart Pearce has made his desire to have Jack Wilshere and Andy Carroll in his European Under 21 Championship squad public.
The two England stars are now set to be caught up in a “club vs country” row as their managers fight against the wishes of Pearce.
The tournament takes place in Denmark and England will be looking for some big stars to guide them to the final.
After a large lay-off with injury, Kenny Dalglish has ordered England to treat Carroll delicately to avoid any further spells out.
Arsene Wenger seems to be still fuming from the last tournament, as the selection of Theo Walcott apparently caused a pre-season injury for the Arsenal youngster, disrupting Wenger’s preparations.
Tottenham Hotspur are also annoyed about the selection of Kyle Walker, although Liverpool and Arsenal have more reason to complain as two of their major stars will be taking to the field.
Wilshere and Carroll are both regulars in Fabio Capello’s squad, so the argument from Dalglish and Wenger is why should they step down a level?
The summer’s tournament runs from June 11th till June 25th.
The Youth Radar will have all the latest news concerning England and the rest of the tournament!
