Turgott on Target as England Defeat Hosts

Blair Turgott scored the winner for England

Blair Turgott scored England’s winner against Belgium in the Elite Qualifying Round of the Under 17 European Championship.

The win for England sets up a winner-takes-all match against Spain on Thursday that will determine England’s place this summer.

If England fail to win or even draw, they will be knocked out and will have a relaxing summer.

A win would see England compete to retain the trophy in Serbia.

Didier Cabumi opened the scoring for Belgium after 37 minutes, similar to what Northern Ireland did against England on Friday.

Crewe Alexander’s striker Nick Powell got England back on level terms just before half time.

Turgott celebrated his second goal of the tournament as he netted the winner 14 minutes from time.

John Peacock’s Young Lions know it will be a tough challenge ahead of them as Spain are renowned for their promising youth talents.

Nevertheless England have a strong squad that can give anyone a contest on their day.
