New Zealand Thrash Opponents by Ten Goals

New Zealand qualified for the semi-finals of the OFC Under 20 Championship in style, beating New Caledonia by ten goals to nil.

They will now play Fiji in the semi-final and if they progress they will meet either Vanuatu or Solomon Islands in the final.

Marco Rojas started the scoring for New Zealand after 11 minutes. The 19-year-old Melbourne Victory player grabbed his second after only 16 minutes, with a Dakota Lucas goal coming in between.

After 20 minutes it was 4-0 to the hosts as James Musa scored the first goal of his three in total.

It didn’t take him long to double his tally as he grabbed his second only a minute later.

Nick Branch scored a hat-trick within 7 minutes as he grabbed goals in the 30th, 35th and 37th minute.

Musa completed his hat-trick just after half-time and Adam Thomas completed the scoring with a penalty after 60 minutes.

New Zealand’s opponents in the semi-finals qualified thanks to a 5-1 victory over American Samoa.

Goals from Vilitati Ratu, Noa Vukica and a hat-trick from Joane Salauneune secured the win for Fiji

The semi-finals will take place on 27th April before the final on the 29th.
