Peacock’s Under 17s In Control Against Rwanda

Hallam Hope wins the ball for England

Hallam Hope and Raheem Sterling scored the goals as England lived up to expectations and defeated Rwanda in Mexico.

England’s FIFA Under 17 World Cup campaign is looking optimistic as they spent the whole game completely in control of Rwanda.

However, this is the first time that Rwanda have competed in an international tournament outside of Africa and are the lowest ranked side in the competition.

England hit the woodwork three times in the opening minutes but couldn’t find the goals they needed until the second half.

Hallam Hope scored an elegant chip over the Rwanda goalkeeper after showing some good strength to muscle the defender off the ball.

Raheem Sterling scored a delightful curling effort in the closing moments to make sure of the victory for England.

England’s next game is against Canada on 22nd June whilst Rwanda will play against Uruguay.
