Score Updates From Around The Globe

In a new feature on The Youth Radar, we see a weekly update of all the results in youth football from around the globe.

FIFA Under 17 World Cup

One of the main attractions at this year’s event in Mexico is not the likes of Brazil or Argentina, but the great force that is Rwanda. Competing in their first ever international tournament at any level outside of their continent, the boys are flying the flag in Mexico with a great deal of support coming from home. Rwanda is buzzing at the moment to see their boys in action. Unfortunately for them, they were defeated by England yeserday evening in their opening match. England had a great deal of possession and it really should of been more than the two goals, but credit to Rwanda as they kept the scoreline down! Possibly the shock result of the tournament so far comes as Rwanda’s African counterparts, Congo, defeated Under 17 European Champions Netherlands. After their triumph in Serbia in May, Netherlands were widely expected to do well on the international stage but judging by this performance it is a real mystery how they even won it in Serbia!

Group A

Congo 1-0 Netherlands

Mexico 3-1 Korea DPR

Group B

France 3-0 Argentina

Japan 1-0 Jamaica

Group C

England 2-0 Rwanda

Uruguay 3-0 Canada

Group D

Uzbekistan 1-4 New Zealand

USA 3-0 Czech Republic

European Under 21 Championship

So it’s the same old story for England as they are knocked out of another major tournament. Stuart Pearce’s men made the final last time and narrowly missed out on the final the time before, but this year it simply wasn’t to be. Danny Welbeck’s goal looked to have seen England through to the semi-finals but two late goals from Czech Republic made sure of their place in the next round. In Group A, Switzerland are looking really strong as they qualify for the semi-finals. Winning all their group games the Swiss do have senior internationals such as the exiciting prospect of Xherdan Shaqiri. The other three teams in their group all finished level on points, level on goal difference and level on goals for and goals against! However, it is apparently Belarus that will qualify for the semi-final. If any other news is heard relating to that, you’ll hear it here first on The Youth Radar.

Group A

Belarus 2-0 Iceland

Denmark 0-1 Switzerland

Switzerland 2-0 Iceland

Denmark 2-1 Belarus

Iceland 3-1 Denmark

Switzerland 3-0 Belarus

*Switzerland and Belarus qualify for semi-finals.

Group B

Czech Republic 2-1 Ukraine

England 1-1 Spain

Czech Republic 0-2 Spain

Ukraine 0-0 England

Czech Republic 2-1 England

Ukraine 0-3 Spain

*Spain and Czech Republic qualify for semi-finals.

FIFA Under 17 Club World Cup

This is a tournament that I was completely unaware of but a fascinating one nonetheless. I have searched and searched through pages and pages on Google but simply cannot seem to find any sort of information on this tournament. However, if you’re following The Youth Radar on Twitter @theyouthradar, you can find retweets of this tournament coming from @FrLaCo, who I believe is a great resource of youth football information!

Semi Final

Barcelona 2-2 Real Madrid (Barcelona win 5-4 on penalties)

*Barcelona will face Corinthians in the final
