The youngster impressed Liverpool coaches during a trial in which he scored five goals and managed two assists in only two games with the Red’s Under-18s side.
English press have not yet reported the move but it is widely expected to be confirmed tomorrow.
This video shows Bijev’s first half hat-trick against Stevenage Borough in one of his trial matches for the Reds.
Bijev plays for his national Under-18 side, chosen after averaging one goal per game last season.
He will have no problems gaining a work permit for the move as his father, Chris, is a Bulgarian national.
Bijev joins Charlie Adam, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing on the list of players to join Kenny Dalglish’s Liverpool revolution.
Other Americans to have joined Liverpool at an early age are Brad Friedel and Zak Whitbread. Unfortunately both players had tough times at Anfield, despite Friedel going on to be one of the Premier League’s most praised goalkeepers.
