Spurs Top Group After Italian Job Completed

Tottenham Hotspur have been crowned top of Group 4 in the NextGen Series thanks to a draw against a strong Inter Milan side.

Their previous win against FC Basel secured qualification but a point in Italy made sure of top spot for Tim Sherwood’s side.

Daniel Bessa threatened the Tottenham goal during the opening quarter but was firmly denied on numerous occasions by Jonathan Miles.

Simone Pecorini however gave the Italians the lead when he latched onto a dangerous cross and netted a powerful volley after 16 minutes.

Tottenham seemed to be incensed by the Italian goal and replied almost immediately as Alex Pritchard grabbed his fourth goal of the competition.

Inter piled on the pressure as the second-half commenced and it took an excellent tackle by Kevin Stewart to deny the Italians – one of many occasions they failed to score with a good chance.

Harry Kane came inches from granting Tottenham the wish they all so dearly wanted as he saw his effort hit the crossbar in what was arguably the move of the match.

Tottenham will entertain Liverpool in the quarter finals of the competition.

Full quarter final draw

Barcelona vs Ajax

Marseille vs Aston Villa

Liverpool vs Tottenham

Sporting Lisbon vs Inter Milan/FC Basel
