FA Youth Cup Round-up

Charlton defied the odds to beat Tottenham

Charlton Athletic shocked Tottenham Hotspur to make it through to the quarter finals of the FA Youth Cup.

Oliver Muldoon scored a free-kick in the final minute at the Valley to send the Addicks through to the next round and knock-out some people’s tips for the trophy.

An impressive crowd of over 1,300 turned up to cheer on the youngsters and they produced a show that would not disappoint.

Souleymane Coulibaly had the best chance for Spurs as he received Shaquile Coulthirst’s ball across the box but he was unable to convert and knocked the ball over the bar.

Muldoon’s free-kick evaded Billy Granger in the Spurs goal in the last minute and with no time for the visitors to reply it gave Charlton the unlikely win.

Elsewhere, Fulham defeated Manchester City 2-1 and reigning champions Manchester United convincingly beat Swansea City 5-1.

Chelsea progressed only after a penalty shoot-out against West Ham United and Blackburn Rovers thrashed Stoke City 4-0.
