Noel Blake has named the 18-man squad that will travel to Estonia for next month’s European Under 19 Championship.
The Young Lions appear to have a very good chance of glory in eastern Europe as they have named a talented bunch of players with a wealth of experience.
Liverpool’s Jack Robinson comes with two League Cup appearances last season and has previously appeared in the Premier League for the Reds. He has came through all the England ranks from Under 16s and has played 9 times for Noel Blake’s side.
Another stand-out inclusion is Everton’s Ross Barkley. He has already made 4 appearances for Stuart Pearce’s Under 21 team and made 9 appearances in an Everton shirt last season, including 6 league games for David Moyes’ Merseyside outfit.
Nathaniel Chalobah will also travel to Estonia and comes with a wealth of experience compared to others at this level. He regularly captains the Chelsea reserve side and made his England Under 17s debut at the tender age of 14. He can play in central defence or midfield but it is expected that Blake shall be using him in the latter position.
Harry Kane makes the squad after some impressive performances on-loan at Championship side Millwall this term. He has netted 9 times in 27 appearances for the London side and has even played six times for his parent club, Tottenham Hotspur, in the Europa League this season whilst scoring one.
Will Keane of Manchester United misses the tournament through injury but his brother, Michael, is included.
Blake’s Young Lions will face Croatia, Serbia and France and will qualify for the 2013 FIFA Under 20 World Cup if they finish in the top three positions of their group.
Their opening game will be on 3rd July against Croatia and The Youth Radar will be covering the whole tournament.
