Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will play another season on-loan at Spanish club Atletico Madrid.
The move follows an extremely successful first season at the La Liga side in which he won the Europa League.
After moving from Belgian side Genk, the 20-year-old was immediately sent on loan and also managed to earn Madrid a fifth-placed league finish.
A statement taken from Atletico Madrid’s official website read: ‘Thibaut Courtois will next season play at Atletico Madrid after Atletico on Wednesday reached an agreement with Chelsea on transfer for a year,’
‘The Belgian international goalkeeper played all of last season on loan playing in in 37 games in La Liga and 15 in the UEFA Europa League – a competition won in Bucharest on May 9.’
Courtois was tasked with filling the shoes of David de Gea, who moved to Manchester United last summer, and he did not disappoint.
The youngster also made his full international debut last season when he became the youngest ever goalkeeper to play for Belgium, keeping a clean sheet in a goalless draw against France.
