Argentina have named their squad that will take part in the South American Youth Championship (Sudamericano Sub-20) beginning January 9th 2013 on home soil.

This will be a key tournament for striker Juan Manuel Iturbe who is the stand-out name in Argentina’s 22-man squad. After two impressive seasons with Paraguay’s Cerro Porteno, where he played internationally for Paraguay at youth level, he moved to Europe where he currently plays for FC Porto. He has since decided that it is Argentina where his international future lies.

Ricardo Centurion is another big name looking to make his mark at the competition after breaking into Racing Club’s starting line-up this season.

Carlos Luque is one member of the side to survive from Argentina’s 2011 FIFA U20 World Cup campaign, where they lost on penalties in the quarter-finals.

Argentina have won the FIFA U20 World Cup on six occasions and are looking to qualify for this year’s edition of the tournament through the Sudamericano Sub 20 competition.

Alan Ruiz joins Luque and Iturbe as a survivor from that World Cup campaign.
