Nigeria breezed past their fiercest competitors in their opening game of this year’s African Under 17 Championship.

They beat Ghana 6-1 in their first group match in Morocco.

Four goals came from the aptly named Succes (first name Isaac) as he claimed a hat-trick inside 63 minutes and added his fourth on 68.

Other strikes came courtesy of Bernard Bulbwa and Kennedy Ihenacho.

Yaw Yeboah grabbed Ghana’s consolation.

Elsewhere in their group, Congo drew their opening game with Ivory Coast. Ngatsongo Obassi gave Congo a lead inside ten minutes but was cancelled out by Junior Landry’s late first half strike.

Hosts Morocco flew to a 4-1 victory over Gabon. Hamza Sakhi claimed a brace inside the first ten and Younes Marzouk gave them a third just after half time. Mac Eyamba tried to pull Gabon back into the game but Nabil Jaadi’s late goal put the game beyond the visitors.

Tunisia beat Botswana 3-1 on Saturday with goals coming from Firas Arbi (2) and Hazem Hassen. Botswana replied through Orebonye.
