Norwich Gain First Leg Advantage Over Chelsea In FA Youth Cup Final

Norwich City came into the final after a penalty shootout win over Nottingham Forest.

A late penalty gave Norwich City a first leg lead over Chelsea in the FA Youth Cup final.

It was Cameron McGeehan’s finish to the keeper’s left side that gave them the advantage going into the second leg at Stamford Bridge on Monday.

Islam Feruz and Nathan Ake came closest for the Blues and both will feel like they wasted chance as Joshua Murphy was fouled by Alex Davey to gift Norwich the chance to take the lead late on in the game.

Norwich City coach Neil Adams said: “I was as pleased for the fans as I was for the players, because they’ve turned out in phenomenal numbers.

“To nearly fill the ground is incredible. The late goal gives us a good opportunity at Stamford Bridge. It will be a tough task for us, we know how good Chelsea are, they showed that tonight.

“We have a big job to do in the second leg. If we apply ourselves with the determination we had tonight we’ll give it a good go.”

These video highlights from a mobile phone on YouTube give a glimpse of the goal, and full highlights will follow shortly on The Youth Radar
