Host Nation Slovakia Celebrate Opening Victory In Euro U17s

Slovakia took all three points in added time off Austria as they won the opening game of this year’s European U17 Championship.

It was a single effort from Martin Slaninka two minutes into the additional time period that secured the host nation a win.

The goal was possibly influenced by Thomas Steiner’s sending off three minutes from time, which unsettled Austria.

However, Slovakia were the stronger side throughout and would have possibly left the ground in deep regret had Slaninka not fired in from close range in the dying seconds.
