Russia breezed to a 3-0 victory against Ukraine in Group B’s European U17 Championship opener.

Goals from Dzhamaldin Khodzhaniyazov, Maksim Mayrovich and Rifat Zhemaletdinov secured their win in Slovakia earlier today.

It was a dominant second half performance from Russia, when all their goals occurred.

Ukraine will feel like they could have done with a bit of luck, as they recorded only one shot on target, compared to their six off the mark.

Khodzhaniyazov’s opening goal was something spectacular as he guided a beautifully weighted free-kick over the wall to nestle in the bottom corner of the net.

Mayrovich managed to get the slightest of touches on his finish to send past Vadym Soldatenko and Zhemaletdinov’s effort put the icing on the cake in the final minute of the game.

Highlights coming soon.
