Max Clayton Saves A Point For England Under 19s

Crewe Alexandra's Max Clayton.

Crewe Alexandra’s Max Clayton.

Max Clayton made up for Jordan Pickford’s early sending off to earn a point for England in their first group game of their Elite Qualifying Round for this summer’s European Under 19 Championship.

Pickford was dismissed after only seven minutes as he denied Georgia an easy goalscoring opportunity. Georgia converted the resulting penalty from Giorgi Pantsulaia.

Clayton equalised though just before the break to earn England a point in Belgium.

And other results went their way too as Scotland drew with the host nation in the other group game, 2-2.

Elsewhere in qualifying, Turkey thrashed Italy 5-1 and Russia lost out 2-1 against Ukraine.
