England Under 21 striker Connor Wickham is confident about his side’s chances in this month’s European Under 21 Championship.
The tournament kicks off in Israel tomorrow evening where the host nation will play Norway, before England take on Italy in their Group A encounter.
Wickham told FATV: “I think the vibe in the camp is good and we’re all looking forward to Wednesday night.
“Walking around the camp you can feel it. We’ve had the coaching staff and everyone drum it in to us what the importance of the tournament is and I don’t think anyone has any doubt in the team that we can’t do well.
“I think we have strength in numbers in every position all over the pitch we’re strong and I think on our day we can go and beat anybody.”
Stuart Pearce’s side arrived in Israel on Saturday following a training camp in nearby Turkey so they could adapt to conditions before the tournament began.
Wickham said: “We obviously had the week in Turkey which prepared us physically for the weather and the demands of the heat and the pitch and the surface.”
