Napoli are close to buying Paris St Germain’s central midfielder Marco Verratti, according to reports in Italian newspapers.
The Serie A club could snatch Verratti for 20 million euros, which would be considered a bargain for the ‘next Andrea Pirlo’.
The tough tackling midfielder celebrated a league title with the French club last season and continued his good form into this summer’s European Under 21 Championship in Israel with the national side.
Napoli are thought to have lured Verratti with an irresistable deal which would significantly improve his current 800,000 euros-a-year salary at the French champions.
The 20-year-old has previously impressed in Serie A with Pescara, becoming a regular in their first team at just 17-years-old. He mainly played the deep-lying playmaker role, much like Pirlo, and has continued in that role with PSG.
Recently, he has broke into the Italy senior international squad after numerous appearances at U21, U20 and U19 level previously.
Despite showing an ability far past any expectations of him recently, he lets himself down with discipline but has improved in that department since moving to France at the start of last season.
