Belgian U17 international Zakaria Bakkali really introduced himself to Europe this evening as he scored a hat-trick in PSV Eindhoven’s 5-0 victory over NEC.
Commentator Adam Summerton described his performance as “One of the best individual performances I’ve ever commentated on. A hat-trick from the sensational Zakaria Bakkali.”
As a teenager he was spotted in Belgium playing for Standard Liege when he was poached by PSV.
Liege have gave birth to Steven Defour, Axel Witsel and Marouane Fellaini in the past and if tonight’s performance is anything to go by, Bakkali could be the next in line to make a name for himself throughout European football.
Bakkali’s third goal tonight (see video below) was particularly special as he cut in from the left hand side and left a completely bamboozled defence helpless as he slotted the ball into the goalkeeper’s top left corner.
It has been an exciting week for the striker of Moroccan descent as he grabbed his first senior goal against Zulte Waregem in his side’s Champions League qualifier on Wednesday.
At just 17-years-old, this could be the latest youngster to make his name in the Eredivisie. Watch and learn.
