The most entertaining game of the weekend came at Spurs as they beat Manchester City in a nine-goal thriller.

A hat-trick from Harry Kane plus goals from Iago Falque, Tom Carroll and Shaquille Coulthirst gave Tottenham something to play with and Man City responded through Marcos Lopes, Harry Bunn and George Glendon.

Recently called-up England U21 international Saido Berahino scored a double as West Brom drew with Bolton Wanderers. Chris Lester and Cian Bolger scored Bolton’s replies.

West Brom have had a positive start to the season and sit 5th place with four points after two games.

Their senior professional development coach David Oldfield told their official club website:”It would have been nice to have won the game but it’s not all about results – it’s about development.

“There were some good performances from our players, especially in the second half.

“It’s good to be undefeated after two games.

“We have Manchester United on Friday which will be another strong test.

“It will be good for the boys to play at The Hawthorns and we will be properly prepared for the game.”

Fabio Borini grabbed a brace for Liverpool as they defeated Manchester United. Due to the postponement of United’s opening fixture against Arsenal last Monday, this game was their first opportunity to get their defence of their Barclays U21 Premier League title off to a positive start but Adam Morgan and Jordan Ibe added to the misery.

Larnell Cole and Jese Lingard replied for Manchester United but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Merseyside club.

Thomas Eisfeld notched a double as his Arsenal side were held 2-2 at home against Stoke City. James Thomas and George Waring scored for the hosts.

Devarn Green and Bradley Bauress were the scorers as Blackburn Rovers narrowly edged Reading 2-1.

Goals from Leicester City’s Joe Dodoo and Ryan Watson couldn’t prevent a a defeat to Sunderland as Billy Knott, Jordan Laidler and a last-gasp goal from Mickael Mandron gave the visitors all three points.

Sunderland remain as one of four teams with a 100% record at this stage of the season.

Fulham beat Middlesbrough on Friday thanks to an unbelievable Alex Brister strike.

Chelsea ran out 4-1 winners against Southampton and Newcastle United beat Wolves 3-1 over the weekend.
