After three games, FC Augsburg see themselves top of the league after a 2-0 away win at SC Freiburg. Sascha Wenninger got Fred Klaus’ side off to the perfect start on just three minutes when he blasted home before Merveille Biankadi doubled their lead just after half-time. Coach Klaus said: “In particular, I must single out our defensive department. We played very well and deserved to win. Wolfsburg continued their incredible form at this level by hitting 8 goals against Carl Zeiss Jena. Four goals from the electric Federico Palacios-Martinez and goals from Phillip Muller, Julian Brandt, Paul Seguin sunk the Jena ship as their goals from Dusan Crnomut and Dominik Bock couldn’t even begin to savour any hope.
Wolfsburg coach Dirk Kunert said: “With such a start to the season we have of course not expected, You never know at the start where you are. I am of course pleased that we have delivered such a strong performance in Jena. Finally, we are still at the beginning of the season. There is still much to improve. But it is also clear that we are improving from week to week because we work hard on us.”
St Pauli just edged a thrilling encounter against Werder Bremen as they won 5-4 on home turf. The result still leaves St Pauli behind Bremen in the table, but Bremen should be pleased at where they are at this stage considering the summer turnaround they had in their squad. 18 of last season’s third place-finishing side have left while 19 new faces have been brought in, including young Austrian talent Florian Grillitsch.
Before the season started, coach Mirko Votava said: “We have taken many talents from the U17s, I will go with a very young team in the season. Because you have to wait and see how the guys develop only once. But there’s definitely a lot of potential in the squad. It will be important that we will be performing the entire season as a team.”

Benno Mohr and Sinan Kurt each scored a brace to put Borussia Monchengladbach top of the west division narrowly ahead of Leverkusen.
Coach Horst Steffen was evidently delighted with the win over Fortuna Dusseldorf and said: “This was of course a super start, then we have played well. Games against Fortuna are always highly competitive. You can start with this season and today’s game just be satisfied. We have concentrated and defended back safe and well going forward.”
