Lazio celebrated a storming start to the Campionato Nazionale Primavera season as they thrashed Napoli on home turf.

Napoli were no underdogs going into the tie but Balde Diao Keita put Lazio 1-0 ahead early on in the tie. Napoli replied almost immediately through Soma Novothny but then Keita’s second of the game restored the home side’s advantage.

Luca Crecco added a third before Simone Palombi grabbed a brace to see Lazio through their first game of the season 5-1 on their way to defending their Campionato Nazionale title.

They won’t sit top of the table this evening though as arch rivals Roma won by an even bigger scoreline.

Their match was set alight by Njiki Tchoutou, who grabbed a hat-trick against Crotone in Roma’s 7-1 victory away from home. Other goals were scored by Trani (2), Francesco Di Mariano (pen) and Luca Mazitelli. Fiorino grabbed a consolation for Crotone who got off to the worst possible starts, albeit against one of the favourites for the title this year.

Juventus started with three points in Group A against Spezia. Matteo Gerbaudo and Simone Pepe scored Juve’s goals while Andrea De Santis replied for Spezia.

Four goals from Iacopo Cernigoi gave AC Milan an opening day win over Pescara.

Elsewhere, Milan ran out 4-0 winners at home to Pescara with Iacopo Cernigoi scoring all four for the Rossoneri

Salvatore Cerrone’s first game in charge of Inter’s Primavera side could have gone better as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Brescia.

Marco Vallotti and Gullotta gave Brescia a half-time lead but Inter managed to salvage a point in the second half thanks to goals from Lorenzo Tassi and Lorenzo Bonazzoli.
