Group A

Juventus missed out on the chance go to second after they suffered a 1-0 defeat away to Bologna.

It was the youngest player on the pitch that scored the decisive goal. Lorenzo Colli took advantage of a mistake by Juventus goalkeeper Gianmarco Vannucchi to net the game’s only goal.

Bologna showed defensive superiority as the game grew older with Matthew Malagoli stealing the show late on with a solid defensive performance.

Empoli remain top of the league after a narrow 1-0 win away at Carpi.

Bologna 1-0 Juventus, Carpi 0-1 Empoli, Genoa 1-0 Cesena, Modena 1-2 Sampdoria, Novara 1-1 Sassuolo, Parma 1-0 Spezia, Torino 2-0 Siena.

Group B

In Group B, Inter and AC Milan didn’t play this weekend due to international commitments. Their fixture is rearranged for 12th January 2014.

Atalanta remain unbeaten and at the top of the league despite dropping two points against Udinese this weekend.

It could have been all three points for Atalanta had it not been for a last-minute equaliser from Roberto Codromaz. Alberto Grassi scored for Atalanta early on but Codromaz’s strike in injury time from a corner meant they would go home with just one point.

Varese did them a favour though, beating Chievo Verona, Atalanta’s biggest rivals for top spot, to leave Atalanta a point clear at the summit of the table.

Virtus Lanciano 1-2 Cagliari, Cittadella 1-1 Padova, Verona 0-0 Pescara, Ternana 1-1 Brescia, Udinese 1-1 Atlanta, Varese 2-0 Chievo Verona.

Cristian Riggio scored a consolation for Crotone against Lazio.

Group C

Lazio and Fiorentina are still locked on equal points at the top of Group C after both sides won this weekend, beating Crotone and Avellino respectively.

Lazio were the most prolific though, putting six goals past their opponents.

They made their mark on the scoresheet after just three minutes when Mamadou Tounkara got on the end of Cristiano Lombardi’s beautiful through ball.

Lombardi added the second not long after and he would go on to get a hat-trick while Tounkara scored another and Gianmarco Steri scored Lazio’s sixth.

Cristian Riggio bought it back to 3-1 for Crotone early in the second half but Lazio continued to run away with the game.

Lazio sit top by just one goal scored. They are on the same points and goal difference as Fiorentina, which means the two side’s games are all the more important next weekend as Fiorentina face Crotone and Lazio will play Bari.

Bari 3-0 Trapani, Crotone 1-6 Lazio, Fiorentina 1-0 Avellino, Latina 2-1 Palermo, Napoli 3-0 Catania, Roma 3-3 Livorno, Juve Stabia 2-1 Reggina.
