Junioren Bundesliga U19: Schalke Hit Ten Past Theesen

It was goals galore in the west division as seven games racked up an incredible average of 5.14 goals per match.

Schalke were the top scorers as they got into double figures against Theesen.

Donis Avdijaj netted five while Leroy Sané grabbed a hat-trick. Pascal Itter and Daniel Koseler scored the remaining goals and Theesen were unable to reply.

Schalke coach Norbert Elgert said: “The guys were not arrogant in any phase of the game and continued to play with a certain decency with great respect for the opponent. It was a highly concentrated performance and a result that is earned in height. A gala performance without compromise.”

Leverkusen remain top of the division after they beat Bochum away from home. Maximilian Wagener, Marc Brasnic and Bjorn Rother netted their three goals.

Bochum 0-3 Leverkusen, Schalke 10-0 Theesen, Koln 6-1 Bonner SC, Oberhausen 0-6 Borussia Moenchengladbach, Dortmund 2-1 Wuppertaler, Fortuna Dusseldorf 3-1 Rot Weiss Essen, Arminia Bielefeld 1-2 MSV Duisburg.

After two consecutive defeats, Wolfsburg got back on track with a stunning win in a weekend of little action in the North/North East division.

Union Berlin were the victims of their 8-2 win, in which Federico Palacios Martinez scored a double hat-trick.

Paul Seguin and Phillipp Muller also netted to secure the win.

Coach Dirk Kunert said: “It was important to the game again to cement our place. The two defeats had an effect on our preparations and we wanted to go into the winter break with a win.

“Union is a team that plays good football. They don’t always win, but by their victory against Hamburg we were forewarned. The boys have done very well and it showed a good passing and positional play. One advantage for us was sure we could play on artificial turf again and were able to bring our technical skills better than last.”

Holstein Kiel 3-1 Hamburger, Wolfsburg 8-2 Union Berlin, Hannover 1-0 Rot Weib Erfurt, Osnabruck 0-2 Hertha.

VFB Stuttgart went top of the division after taking advantage of a draw between Mainz and Hoffenheim.

Stuttgart beat Astoria Walldorf with goals from Adrian Grbic (2), Francesco Lovric and Simon Wilske.

Bayern Munich caused a bit of a shock against Frankfurt as they ran out 3-0 winners.

Bayern Munich 3-0 Frankfurt, Astoria Walldorf 1-4 Stuttgart, Greuther Furth 2-0 Unterhaching, Hoffenheim 1-1 Mainz 05, Freiburg 2-2 Kaiserlautern, Karlsruher 4-2 Wacker Burghausen.
