When Christian Poulsen got injured in the final ten minutes of Ajax’s clash against Roda JC at the weekend, manager Frank de Boer employed some peculiar tactics to try and save his team from suffering a disappointing 1-0 defeat.
De Boer sent on 17-year-old left back Jairo Riedewald to make his competitive debut for the Amsterdam club and what a repayment the 43-year-old gaffer received.
Riedewald scored not one but two goals to secure all three points for Ajax and send them top of the Eredivisie heading into the winter break.
Riedewald has made 27 appearances for Netherlands youth sides from under 16 to under 19 level, at which level he currently plays.
It seems the young left sided defender will be a name we’re hearing much more from in the coming year!
