Barclays U21 Premier League: Liverpool Fall In Pursuit Of Top Spot With Reading Loss

Liverpool missed out on the chance to cement their pursuit of top spot in the Barclays U21 Premier League as they lost 2-1 against a determined Reading side at Anfield last night.

Martin Kuhl’s side took a sixth minute lead through Martin Hector but Jordan Lussey equalised just before half-time for the Reds.

Liverpool dominated for a while and hit the post in their chase of a winner but it was Reading who eventually deserved three points. Craig Tanner set up Harry Cardwell to score a stunning winner for the Royals.

Liverpool stay four points behind leaders Fulham but still have one game in hand.

The result also sees Reading climb up to 17th, recording just their fifth win of the season.

Full results (03/03/14)

Blackburn Rovers 2-1 Newcastle United, Bolton Wanderers 2-3 Everton, Liverpool 1-2 Reading Middlesbrough 0-2 Aston Villa.
