Manchester City ran out winners against Liverpool this morning to tighten their grip on the northern section of the Barclays U18 Premier League.

They now sit two points clear of Everton after the Toffees drew with Stoke City this morning.

Alex O’Hanlon opened the scoring for the Reds at the end of an entertaining first-half, in which Man City hit the post twice from Thierry Ambrose and Denziel Boadu.

Brandon Barker scored a deserved equaliser for City. The winger drove in from the left-hand side and hit a driven shot that was too powerful for goalkeeper Andy Firth.

The winner came on 69 minutes and was a moment of brilliance from Bersant Celina. The Kosovan picked up the ball on the edge of the area and curled a finessed effort into the top corner giving Firth no chance.

The result sees Liverpool now 13 points behind City and 11 points off the two qualification places for the final series.

Full results:

Man Utd 2-3 Bolton, Middlesbrough 0-2 Newcastle, Reading 0-3 Aston Villa, Stoke 1-1 Everton, Arsenal 3-0 Leicester, Chelsea 2-0 WBA, Southampton 1-1 Norwich, West Ham 0-1 Tottenham, Liverpool 1-2 Man City.
